Karakol, formerly Przhevalsk, is the fourth-largest city in Kyrgyzstan, near the eastern tip of Issyk-Kul, about 150 kilometres (93 mi) from the Kyrgyzstan–China border and 380 kilometres (240 mi) from the capital Bishkek. It is the administrative capital of Issyk-Kul Region. Its area is 44 square kilometres (17 sq mi), and its resident population was 84,351 in 2021. To the north, on highway A363, is Tüp, and to the southwest Jeti-Ögüz resort.
As WE explored this charming town, WE were amazed by the stunning natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage that it has to offer. Located at the eastern end of the Issyk-Kul lake, Karakol is a true paradise for adventure seekers and history enthusiasts alike.
One of the main attractions of this locality is the Karakol Ski Base, which offers some of the best skiing opportunities in the region. The slopes here are perfect for both beginners and experienced skiers, and the breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains are simply unforgettable.
