Łomża is a city in north-eastern Poland, approximately 150 kilometres (93 mi) to the north-east of Warsaw and 80 kilometres (50 mi) west of Białystok. It is situated alongside the Narew River as part of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. It is the capital of Łomża County and has been the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Łomża since 1925.
As you wander through the town's picturesque streets, you'll be transported back in time to the medieval era. Łomża is home to several well-preserved historical landmarks, including the 14th-century Gothic-style St. Michael Archangel Cathedral and the 15th-century Old Town Hall. The town's rich history can also be seen in its numerous museums, such as the Regional Museum and the Museum of the Defence and Martyrdom of the Podlasie Region.
For nature lovers, Łomża is surrounded by stunning landscapes and outdoor recreation opportunities. The town sits on the banks of the Narew River, which flows through the Biebrza National Park - one of the largest and most biodiverse nature reserves in Europe. Hiking, birdwatching, and canoeing are just a few of the activities you can enjoy in this pristine wilderness.
