Pula, also known as Pola, its Italian name, is the largest city in Istria County, western Croatia, and the seventh-largest city in the country, situated at the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula in western Croatia, with a population of 52,220 in 2021. It is known for its multitude of ancient Roman buildings, the most famous of which is the Pula Arena, one of the best preserved Roman amphitheaters. The city has a long tradition of wine making, fishing, shipbuilding, and tourism. It was the administrative centre of Istria from ancient Roman times until superseded by Pazin in 1991.

One of the most striking features of Pula is its ancient Roman ruins. The city is home to one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world, which dates back to the 1st century AD. You can explore the amphitheater and learn about its history through guided tours or audio guides, which are available in several languages.

In addition to the amphitheater, Pula is also home to several other well-preserved Roman structures, including the Arch of the Sergii and the Temple of Augustus. These structures offer a fascinating glimpse into the city's past and are a testament to its rich cultural heritage.
