Innervillgraten is a municipality in the district of Lienz in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The region is one of the most remote regions in Austria. A year-long connection to the valley was established as late as 1956. The death of Pius Walder, a wood cutter and poacher, who had been shot by Johann Schett, led to some tourist and media interest.
Nestled in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps, Innervillgraten offers breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, lush greenery, and crystal-clear streams. Known for its traditional architecture and rich cultural heritage, this village is a true gem. You will find a warm welcome from the locals who take great pride in preserving their customs and traditions.
Innervillgraten is a perfect destination for those who love the outdoors. The village offers numerous hiking trails that will take you through alpine meadows, dense forests, and picturesque villages. You can also try your hand at skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports in the nearby Hochpustertal ski resort.
