Carnac is a commune beside the Gulf of Morbihan on the south coast of Brittany in the Morbihan department in north-western France.
Carnac is famous for its ancient standing stones, which date back to prehistoric times. These stones are aligned in rows and are said to have been erected by the ancient people of Brittany for religious or astronomical purposes. The largest of these rows, known as the Carnac Stones, comprises more than 3,000 standing stones and is one of the most significant prehistoric sites in Europe.
Apart from the standing stones, Carnac is also home to many beautiful beaches. The town has more than five kilometers of sandy beaches, which are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports. The most popular beaches in Carnac are the Grande Plage and the Plage de Saint Colomban.
