IJmuiden is a port town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is the main town in the municipality of Velsen which lies mainly to the south-east. Including its large sea locks, it straddles the mouth of the North Sea Canal to Amsterdam. To the south it abuts a large reserve of plant-covered dunes, the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. The town is on the south bank; the north bank is otherwise a steel plant and Velsen-Noord.

As you make your way through IJmuiden, you'll quickly discover that this small town is home to a vibrant community of locals who are passionate about their heritage and way of life. Whether you're strolling through the picturesque streets of the town center or exploring the pristine beaches that line the coast, you'll be struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere that permeates the entire area.

One of the highlights of any visit to IJmuiden is the stunning nature reserve that surrounds the town. Known as the Kennemerduinen National Park, this vast expanse of dunes and woodland is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including deer, foxes, and countless species of birds. If you're an avid hiker or cyclist, you'll love exploring the many trails that wind their way through the park, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
