Caltagirone is an inland city and municipality in the Metropolitan City of Catania, on the island of Sicily, Southern Italy, about 70 kilometres (43 mi) southwest of Catania.

As you wander through the streets of Caltagirone, you'll notice the colorful ceramic tiles that adorn the buildings and staircases. In fact, the town is famous for its traditional majolica pottery, which has been produced here since the 17th century. You can visit one of the many workshops and see the skilled artisans at work, creating intricate designs that are both beautiful and functional.

Another must-see attraction in Caltagirone is the famous Scala di Santa Maria del Monte, a grand staircase that leads up to the old town. The staircase is made up of 142 steps, each one decorated with a different ceramic tile. It's a stunning sight to behold, especially when the sun sets and the tiles begin to sparkle in the light.
