Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Cividale del Friuli is a town and comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine, part of the North-Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The town lies 135 metres (443 ft) above sea-level in the foothills of the eastern Alps, 15 kilometres (9 mi) by rail from the city of Udine and close to the Slovenian border. It is situated on the river Natisone, which forms a picturesque ravine here. Formerly an important regional power, it is today a quiet, small town that attracts tourists thanks to its medieval center.

As you wander through the winding streets of Cividale, you'll feel as though you've stepped back in time. The town dates back to the time of the Celts, and it still retains much of its medieval character. You'll be struck by the beauty of the architecture, with its narrow streets, ancient buildings, and colorful facades.

One of the main attractions in Cividale is the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Longobards in Italy: Places of Power. This includes the Tempietto Longobardo, a small chapel that dates back to the 8th century. Inside, you'll find intricate frescoes that depict scenes from the Bible and from the life of Christ.
