About the property

Located among breath-taking views of the Peruvian Amazon, Bosque Guardian Lodge is only 40 minutes away from the city of Tarapoto’s airport, in San Martin Region. The lodge is next to the Cordillera Escalera conservation area and, for that reason, some of the Bosque Guardian Association’s main goals are to protect the environment through reforestation, educational activities, and wildlife monitoring.

The Bosque Guardian Lodge boasts beautifully crafted bamboo rooms within the lush rainforest. Our private conservation area has several exciting trails that will allow you to discover the jungle. Moreover, you will live unique experiences: top Peruvian cuisine with exotic produce from our organic farm, and ecotourism activities.

Swim in the Tiraco River and its wonderful pink rocks, enjoy a dive in the waterfall; follow the cacao and Melipona bee trails, visit the frog pond, explore wildlife and bird-watching, and get to see the new footage of our camera traps. You could also develop new skills at our paper workshop, where you could learn how to make ecofriendly objects with natural fibers.

We adapt to our visitors’ needs and expectations to assure a life experience.

Come and discover the rainforest and the people who work to protect it!

Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Tarapoto, founded in 1782 as Santa Cruz de los Motilones de Tarapoto, is a commercial hub town in the San Martín Province of the Department of San Martín of northern Peru. It is an hour by plane from Lima, in the high jungle plateau to the east of what is known as the selva baja. Although Moyobamba is the capital of the region, Tarapoto is the region's largest city and is linked to the Upper Amazon and the historic city of Yurimaguas by a relatively well-maintained transandean highway, paved in 2008–9.

One of the most popular landmarks in Tarapoto is the stunning Ahuashiyacu Waterfalls, which is a must-visit spot for nature lovers. The waterfall is located just a short drive from the city center and is surrounded by lush greenery and exotic wildlife. YOU can take a dip in the crystal-clear water or simply relax and enjoy the breathtaking views.

Another attraction that YOU can't miss in Tarapoto is the Laguna Azul, a beautiful lagoon surrounded by towering mountains and dense forests. The lagoon is perfect for swimming, kayaking, and even fishing. YOU can also hike in the surrounding areas and discover hidden waterfalls and natural pools.
