Casa dolce casa

Pienza is a town and comune in the province of Siena, Tuscany, in the historical region of Val d'Orcia. Situated between the towns of Montepulciano and Montalcino, it is considered the "touchstone of Renaissance urbanism".

Nestled in the breathtaking Val d'Orcia, Pienza is known as the "ideal city of the Renaissance." The town was transformed by Pope Pius II in the 15th century, who wanted to create a utopian city that embodied the principles of humanism and beauty. The result is a stunning masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, with perfectly proportioned buildings, harmonious streetscapes, and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

One of the highlights of Pienza is the Piazza Pio II, a magnificent square that is considered one of the most beautiful in Italy. Here, you can admire the Palazzo Piccolomini, the former residence of Pope Pius II, which boasts an impressive collection of art and artifacts from the Renaissance era.
