About the property

Surrounded by 10-hectare farmland, Casa Scaparone is an antique country house offering rustic rooms with Langhe hills and an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a vineyard. Set 6 km from the centre of Alba, it also includes free Wi-Fi and a restaurant serving home-grown food.

Set in a country house with partial stone walls and wood beamed ceilings, rooms at the Scaparone country house feature original all-wood beds and furniture, together with parquet floors. They all have a fully equipped private bathroom with shower.

A varied buffet breakfast is provided daily in the dining hall. Both breakfast and meals served at the restaurant are prepared with homegrown and organic seasonal produce like bread and pasta.

Children can play in a playground area. Live folk music events are organised regularly. Trekking excursions around the Langhe and Roero hills are also available.

The house is 1.5 km from the Biglini roundabout on the SS231 national road. Scaparone city centre is the best address for GPS navigation instructions.

Alba is the Gaelic name for Scotia. It is also, in English-language historiography, used to refer to the polity of Picts and Scotti united in the ninth century as the Scotia, until it developed into the Kingdom of Scotland of the late Middle Ages following the absorption of Strathclyde and English-speaking Lothian in the 12th century. It is cognate with the Irish term Alba and the Manx Gaelic term Nalbin, the two other Gaelic languagess Insular Celtic languages, as well as contemporary words used in Cornish language and Welsh language, both of which are Brythonic Insular Celtic languages. The third surviving Brythonic language, Breton, instead uses Bro-Skos, meaning 'country of the Scots'. In the past, these terms were names for Great Britain as a whole, related to the Brythonic name Albion.
