Discover Stromboli

Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Stromboli is an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the north coast of Sicily, containing Mount Stromboli, one of the four active volcanoes in Italy. It is one of the seven Aeolian Islands, a volcanic arc north of Sicily, and the mythological home of Aeolus.

As soon as you step off the ferry onto the island, you'll be greeted by stunning views of the volcano rising up in the distance. The island itself is only 12 square kilometers, but it is full of hiking trails that will take you through lush vegetation and up to the summit of the volcano.

One of the most popular activities on the island is taking a guided hike up to the crater of the volcano to witness the spectacular eruptions that happen regularly. The hike is not for the faint of heart, and requires a good level of fitness, but the reward of seeing the lava spewing out of the crater is truly unforgettable.
