Positano is a town and comune (municipality) on the Amalfi Coast in the Province of Salerno in the region of Campania in southern Italy, mainly in an enclave in the hills leading down to the coast. It has 3,643 inhabitants.
As you make your way through the narrow streets of Positano, you'll be surrounded by vibrant bougainvillea and lemon trees. The town is built into the side of a cliff, with pastel-colored homes stacked one on top of the other. The pebbled beachfront is dotted with umbrellas and lounge chairs, perfect for soaking up the Mediterranean sun.
While the town may be small, it's packed with plenty to explore. Take a stroll through the main square, Piazza dei Mulini, where you'll find local shops and cafes. The Church of Santa Maria Assunta is a must-see, with its iconic dome and stunning interior.
