Montalcino is a hill town and comune (municipality) in the province of Siena, Tuscany, central Italy.
As you wander through the town's narrow streets, you'll be transported back in time to a bygone era. Montalcino is famous for its medieval architecture, including the imposing 14th-century fortress that dominates the skyline. From the top of the fortress, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, including rolling hills, lush vineyards, and sprawling olive groves.
One of the town's most famous exports is its wine, particularly the world-renowned Brunello di Montalcino. This rich, full-bodied red wine is made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes grown in the surrounding hills, and is a favorite of wine connoisseurs around the globe. You can sample this delicious wine at one of the many local wineries, or enjoy a glass with your meal at one of the town's charming restaurants.
