Discover St. Wolfgang

Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Wolfgang of Regensburg was bishop of Regensburg in Bavaria from Christmas 972 until his death. He is a saint in the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. He is regarded as one of the three great German saints of the 10th century, the other two being Ulrich of Augsburg and Conrad of Constance. Towards the end of his life Wolfgang withdrew as a hermit to a solitary spot, in the Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria. Soon after Wolfgang's death many churches chose him as their patron saint, and various towns were named after him.

As you arrive in St. Wolfgang, you'll immediately be struck by its picturesque scenery. The town has been charming visitors for centuries with its traditional architecture and quaint cobblestone streets. Take a leisurely stroll through the town center and discover its many cafes, restaurants, and shops.

One of the most popular attractions in St. Wolfgang is the Pilgrimage Church of St. Wolfgang, which dates back to the 15th century. The church is located on a hill overlooking the town and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Inside, you'll find beautiful frescoes and intricate wood carvings.
