Noboribetsu is a city in Iburi Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. Part of Shikotsu-Toya National Park, it is southwest of Sapporo, west of Tomakomai and northeast of Hakodate.
The town of Noboribetsu is known for its natural hot springs, which are believed to have therapeutic benefits. The hot springs, known as "onsen" in Japanese, are formed by the volcanic activity of Mount Hiyori. The water in these onsens is rich in minerals like sulfur, calcium, and magnesium, which are said to have healing properties. The most popular onsens in Noboribetsu include the Jigokudani (Hell Valley) and the Oyunuma Pond.
Aside from the onsens, Noboribetsu has plenty of other attractions that are worth exploring. The town is surrounded by beautiful nature, with Mount Hiyori and the Shikotsu-Toya National Park being two of the main highlights. Hiking and nature trails are abundant in the area, allowing visitors to take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests.
