Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Neuquén is the capital city of the Argentine province of Neuquén and of the Confluencia Department within that province, located in the extreme east of the province. It occupies a strip of land west of the confluence of the Limay and Neuquén rivers which form the Río Negro, making it part of the ecoregion of Alto Valle del Río Negro. The city had 287,787 inhabitants, and the surrounding Neuquén – Plottier – Cipolletti conurbation had a population of more than 500,000 at the 2022 Census, making it the largest urban agglomeration in Patagonia.

One of the highlights of Neuquén is its stunning landscapes. From snow-capped peaks to turquoise lakes, the province boasts an array of natural wonders waiting to be explored. Take a hike in the Lanín National Park and marvel at the Lanín Volcano, an impressive 3,776-meter-high stratovolcano. Or, visit the Huechulafquen Lake, one of the largest and most picturesque lakes in Patagonia, and enjoy activities such as fishing, kayaking, or simply soaking up the breathtaking views.

For those seeking adventure, Neuquén offers endless opportunities. You can go skiing in the winter, rafting in the summer, or horseback riding year-round. The province is also home to some of the best fly-fishing rivers in the world, such as the Limay and the Traful. And if you're feeling particularly adventurous, why not try paragliding or trekking on a glacier?
