Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Granada is the capital city of the province of Granada, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. Granada is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, at the confluence of four rivers, the Darro, the Genil, the Monachil and the Beiro. Ascribed to the Vega de Granada comarca, the city sits at an average elevation of 738 m (2,421 ft) above sea level 50 km from the Mediterranean coast, the Costa Tropical. With a population of 233,532 as of 2024, it is the 20th-largest city in Spain and is an important wine growing region. It was the last Muslim stronghold in Islamic Spain.

One of the main attractions of Granada is its well-preserved colonial architecture. The city's colorful buildings and narrow cobblestone streets will transport you back in time. You can take a leisurely stroll through the city center and admire the stunning buildings, such as the Cathedral of Granada and the iconic yellow Iglesia de La Merced.

Another must-see in Granada is the imposing Mombacho Volcano, which towers over the city. You can hike to the top of the volcano and enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Nicaragua and the surrounding landscape. For a more relaxing experience, take a boat tour of the lake and visit the nearby islets, where you can see monkeys, exotic birds, and even swim in the crystal-clear waters.
