Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. The village lies about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) to the east of the Rhône and 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) north of the city of Avignon. As of 2023 the commune had a population of 2,050. In old French, its name translates into "new castle of the Pope" or "Pope's new castle".

The village is surrounded by picturesque landscapes that are filled with vineyards and olive groves. The town’s main attraction is its castle, which was built in the 14th century by the Pope's of Avignon. The castle was originally built as a summer residence for the Pope and his court. Today, the castle is open for visitors to explore and marvel at its stunning architecture.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape is also known for its delicious wine. The village's vineyards produce not only red and white wines, but also rosé. The region's red wines are made primarily from the Grenache grape, while the white wines are made from a blend of grapes including Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and Bourboulenc. You can sample these wines at the local wineries and cellars, where you can also learn about the winemaking process.
