Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Franz Joseph I or Francis Joseph I was Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary, and the ruler of the other states of the Habsburg monarchy from 2 December 1848 until his death in 1916. In the early part of his reign, his realms and territories were referred to as the Austrian Empire, but in 1867 they were reconstituted as the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary. From 1 May 1850 to 24 August 1866, he was also president of the German Confederation.

Franz Josef is a small town located in the West Coast region of New Zealand, known for its stunning natural beauty and outdoor activities. The town is named after the Franz Josef Glacier, a magnificent glacier that is over 12km long and surrounded by lush rainforests. The glacier is one of the main attractions of the town and a must-see for anyone visiting the area.

In addition to the glacier, Franz Josef offers a range of outdoor activities for adventure seekers. You can go hiking in the nearby rainforests, take a helicopter tour over the glacier, or even go ice climbing on the glacier itself. For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, there are plenty of hot springs and spas in the area where you can unwind and soak in the natural beauty of the surroundings.
