Perugia is the capital city of Umbria and the province of Perugia in central Italy, crossed by the River Tiber. The city is located about 164 km (102 mi) north of Rome and 148 km (92 mi) southeast of Florence. It covers a high hilltop and part of the valleys around the area. With a population of 162,384, it is the 23rd-largest city in Italy.

One of the most striking features of Perugia is its rich history, which is reflected in the many magnificent buildings that you can see throughout the city. Some of the most notable historical sites include the Palazzo dei Priori, which is one of the oldest public palaces in Italy, and the Rocca Paolina, a medieval fortress that was built in the 16th century.

Perugia is also a great destination for art lovers. The city is home to several museums and galleries, including the National Gallery of Umbria, which houses a vast collection of works from the Renaissance period. If you're interested in contemporary art, you'll want to check out the Perugia Contemporary Art Museum, which features works by some of Italy's most innovative artists.
