Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Eguisheim is a commune in the Haut-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. It lies in the historical region of Alsace. The village lies on the edge of the Ballons des Vosges Nature Park, where the Vosges meet the Upper Rhine Plain.

As you walk through Eguisheim's cobbled streets, you'll be transported back in time. The village is known for its traditional half-timbered houses that are adorned with colorful flowers. In fact, Eguisheim was awarded the title of "France's favorite village" in 2013, and it's easy to see why. The village has a circular layout that is reminiscent of a medieval fortress, with three concentric circles of buildings that surround the castle. As you wander through the streets, you'll notice that each house has a unique charm and character, making it a photographer's dream.

One of the highlights of Eguisheim is its wine culture. The village is located in the heart of the Alsace wine region, which is known for producing some of the best white wines in the world. There are many local wineries that offer tours and tastings, where you'll have the chance to sample the region's famous Riesling and Gewurztraminer wines. For foodies, Eguisheim is also known for its delicious Alsatian cuisine, which includes dishes like tarte flambée (a type of pizza), choucroute (sauerkraut with sausages), and baeckeoffe (a hearty meat stew).
