Ma'ale Gamla is an Israeli settlement and moshav located in the west part of the Golan Heights, under the occupation of Israel. It falls under the municipal jurisdiction of Golan Regional Council. In 2024 it had a population of 734.
First and foremost, Ma'ale Gamla is home to one of the most impressive natural wonders in the region: the Gamla Nature Reserve. This reserve spans over 5,000 acres and includes a variety of hiking trails that take you through breathtaking landscapes. Along the way, you'll have the chance to spot rare wildlife like Griffon vultures, hyenas, and even wolves.
In addition to its natural wonders, Ma'ale Gamla is also steeped in history. The area was once home to a thriving Jewish community during the Second Temple period, and the remains of their ancient synagogue can still be seen today.
