Tixkokob is a town in the Mexican state of Yucatán, located in the north central part of the state. It is the seat of Tixkokob Municipality and is located about 24 miles east of the city of Mérida. As of 2005 it has a population of 10,338.
As you explore the town, you will notice the traditional Mayan architecture adorning the buildings. The town is known for its skilled artisans who create beautiful handicrafts such as hammocks, embroidery, and pottery. You can even visit a local workshop and see how these crafts are made.
One of the must-see attractions in Tixkokob is the Hacienda San Antonio Millet. The hacienda was once a thriving sisal plantation and has now been transformed into a museum. You can see the old machinery used to process sisal and learn about the history of the plantation.
