Dharamshala is a town in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It serves as the winter capital of the state and the administrative headquarters of the Kangra district since 1855. Since 1960, the town has hosted the 14th Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile.
Located at an altitude of 1475 meters above sea level, Dharamshala is divided into two parts: the lower Dharamshala and the upper Dharamshala. The lower part of the city is known as the commercial center, while the upper part of the city is famous for its scenic beauty and spiritual significance.
One of the highlights of Dharamshala is the Namgyal Monastery, which is considered to be the largest Tibetan temple outside of Tibet. The monastery is home to over 200 monks, and it's a perfect place to learn about Buddhism and Tibetan culture. You can also attend the evening prayers, which are truly a spiritual experience.
