Historic Modica

Modica is a city and municipality (comune) in the Province of Ragusa, Sicily, southern Italy. The city is situated in the Hyblaean Mountains. It has 53,413 inhabitants.

The town boasts a unique style of architecture, known as "Modican Baroque," which is characterized by its dramatic flourishes, intricate carvings, and ornate balconies. Many of the buildings in Modica were destroyed in the earthquake of 1693 and were later rebuilt in this stunning Baroque style.
