Holderness Home

Holderness is an area of the East Riding of Yorkshire, on the north-east coast of England. An area of rich agricultural land, Holderness was marshland until it was drained in the Middle Ages. Topographically, Holderness has more in common with the Netherlands than with other parts of Yorkshire. To the north and west are the Yorkshire Wolds. Holderness generally refers to the area between the River Hull and the North Sea. The Prime Meridian passes through Holderness just to the east of Patrington and through Tunstall to the north.

Nestled in the heart of the White Mountains, Holderness offers stunning natural scenery and a range of outdoor activities for all ages. The Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is a must-visit attraction, where you can learn about the local wildlife and take a guided tour of the animal exhibits.

For those seeking adventure, Holderness has plenty to offer. You can explore the wilderness on foot or by bike on one of the many hiking or biking trails, or take to the water for a kayaking or canoeing excursion. The Squam Lakes Association offers a variety of guided tours and rentals for exploring the lakes, including sunset paddles and wildlife safaris.
