The marathon is a long-distance foot race with a distance of 42.195 kilometres, usually run as a road race, but the distance can be covered on trail routes. The marathon can be completed by running or with a run/walk strategy. There are also wheelchair divisions. More than 800 marathons are held worldwide each year, with the vast majority of competitors being recreational athletes, as larger marathons can have tens of thousands of participants.

As you step into Marathon, you’ll be greeted by crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, and warm sunshine. The locality is located in the heart of the Florida Keys, making it an ideal location for those who love water sports and outdoor activities. Whether you’re looking to go snorkeling, diving, kayaking, or fishing, Marathon has something for everyone.

One of the most popular attractions in Marathon is the Dolphin Research Center. Here, you’ll be able to swim and interact with dolphins, learn about their behavior and habitat, and even watch them perform tricks. If you’re a nature lover, you’ll also want to head over to the Curry Hammock State Park, which offers stunning views of the ocean, hiking trails, and picnic areas.
