Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Aurangabad, officially renamed as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in 2023, is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the administrative headquarters of Aurangabad district and is the largest city in the Marathwada region. Located on a hilly upland terrain in the Deccan Traps, Aurangabad is the fifth-most populous urban area in Maharashtra, after Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Nashik, with a population of 1,175,116.

One of the most popular attractions in Aurangabad is the Ajanta and Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site. These caves are a testimony to the craftsmanship and artistry of ancient Indian artisans. Another must-visit attraction is the Bibi Ka Maqbara, a tomb built by Aurangzeb's son in memory of his mother. The stunning architecture of the mausoleum is reminiscent of the Taj Mahal in Agra.

If you are interested in history, then the Aurangabad Caves should be on your list. These caves were carved out of volcanic rock and date back to the 6th and 7th centuries. The city also houses the Daulatabad Fort, which was once known as the invincible fort of the Deccan. The fort has an intriguing history and offers panoramic views of the surrounding areas.
