Târgu Jiu, is the capital of Gorj County in the Oltenia region of Romania. It is situated on the Southern Sub-Carpathians, on the banks of the river Jiu. Eight localities are administered by the city: Bârsești, Drăgoieni, Iezureni, Polata, Preajba Mare, Romanești, Slobozia, and Ursați.

Târgu Jiu is famous for its open-air sculpture exhibition, the Brâncuși Ensemble, which features some of the most important works of the Romanian sculptor, Constantin Brâncuși. The ensemble consists of four sculptures: The Table of Silence, The Gate of the Kiss, The Endless Column, and The Alley of the Chairs. These sculptures are placed in a park, creating a unique and mesmerizing experience for visitors.

Apart from the Brâncuși Ensemble, Târgu Jiu has other interesting things to offer. You can visit the Targu-Jiu Art Museum, which hosts a collection of paintings, graphics, and sculptures from Romanian artists. Or, you can take a stroll through the city center and admire the beautiful architecture of the buildings.
