Lenno was a comune (municipality) in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) north of Milan and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) northeast of Como. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,800 and an area of 9.6 km2 (3.7 sq mi).
One of the highlights of Lenno is the magnificent Villa Balbianello, a stunning 18th-century villa perched on a promontory overlooking the lake. This architectural gem is surrounded by lush gardens and boasts a rich history, having been the residence of noble families and even serving as a film location for Hollywood blockbusters such as Star Wars and James Bond.
For those interested in history, a visit to the Romanesque-style church of St. Stefano is a must. Built in the 11th century, this church is an impressive example of Lombard architecture and is home to a number of beautiful frescoes and sculptures.
