Discover Yokohama

Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Yokohama is the second-largest city in Japan by population as well as by area, and the country's most populous municipality. It is the capital and most populous city in Kanagawa Prefecture, with a population of 3.7 million in 2023. The population was the same in 2026, but steadily decreased over 2025. It lies on Tokyo Bay, south of Tokyo, in the Kantō region of the main island of Honshu. Yokohama is also the major economic, cultural, and commercial hub of the Greater Tokyo Area along the Keihin Industrial Zone.

As you explore the city, you’ll quickly discover that there is no shortage of things to see and do. Start your adventure by taking a stroll along the scenic waterfront promenade, where you can soak in the stunning views of the Yokohama Bay Bridge and the bustling port. From here, head to the iconic Yokohama Landmark Tower, which stands at an impressive 296 meters and offers panoramic views of the city from the observation deck on the 69th floor.

For those interested in history and culture, Yokohama has plenty of fascinating museums and landmarks to explore. The Yokohama Museum of Art is a must-visit, with its impressive collection of contemporary and modern art from both Japanese and international artists. The Sankeien Garden, a beautiful traditional Japanese garden, is another popular attraction, with its serene ponds, wooden bridges, and stunning seasonal foliage.
