Discover Dinan

Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Dinan is a walled Breton town and a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department in northwestern France. On 1 January 2018, the former commune of Léhon was merged into Dinan.

As you wander through the narrow streets of Dinan, you'll be transported back to the Middle Ages. The town's impressive ramparts, dating back to the 13th century, offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the River Rance. Take a stroll along the riverbank and admire the colourful boats bobbing in the water, or head to the Jardin Anglais for a peaceful afternoon picnic.

One of the highlights of Dinan is its beautiful architecture. The town is home to several historic churches, including the Gothic-style Basilique Saint-Sauveur and the Romanesque-style Église Saint-Malo. You'll also find many half-timbered houses with overhanging upper floors, some of which date back to the 15th century.
