About the property

Idyllically located on the beach front boulevard of Vlissingen, Hotel Restaurant Solskin offers spacious rooms and suites with panoramic views.

Solskin means sunshine in Danish - an appropriate name for a hotel in a place with a higher number of sun hours than most of the Netherlands. The maritime restaurant of Solskin offers a sublime French-Dutch cuisine.

From behind the glass-protected terrace or other window-side sitting areas you can enjoy a beautiful view over the Scheldemonding. For a change of view, follow the boulevard to the end where you’ll reach the lovely nature reserve the Nollebos – an inviting location for cycling and walking.

Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Vlissingen is a municipality and a city in the southwestern Netherlands on the island of Walcheren. With its strategic location between the Scheldt river and the North Sea, Vlissingen has been an important harbour for centuries. It was granted city rights in 1315. In the 17th century the roadstead of Vlissingen was a main harbour for ships of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). It is also known as the birthplace of Lieutenant-Admiral Michiel de Ruyter.

As you walk through the charming town center, you'll be transported back in time to the 17th century when Vlissingen was an important trading port. The town's strategic location on the mouth of the Westerschelde River made it a key player in the Dutch East India Company's global trade network. Today, you can still see the remnants of this era in the town's architecture, including the impressive Arsenal building and the historic Bellamy Park.

Of course, no visit to Vlissingen would be complete without a trip to one of its many beautiful beaches. The town boasts several kilometers of sandy shores, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. For a more secluded experience, head to the nearby nature reserve of Westduinpark, where you can hike through the dunes and spot wildlife like deer and rabbits.
