Kaohsiung, officially Kaohsiung City, is a special municipality located in southern Taiwan. With a population of approximately 2.7 million people, it is Taiwan's third most populous city and the largest city in southern Taiwan. After merging with Kaohsiung County in 2010, the city extends from the coastal urban center across inland rural areas, and stretches into the mountainous Yushan Range, making it the largest city in Taiwan by area at 2,952 km2 (1,140 mi2).

Kaohsiung is known for its beautiful coastline, bustling night markets, and rich cultural heritage. As the largest city in southern Taiwan, it is home to a diverse population of over 2.7 million people. The city is situated on the banks of the Love River, which runs through the heart of the city and provides a scenic backdrop for many of its attractions.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Kaohsiung is the Pier-2 Art Center. This former warehouse has been transformed into a modern art space, featuring exhibitions, installations, and performances by local and international artists. Another must-visit attraction is the Lotus Pond, a picturesque lake surrounded by temples and pagodas.
