The oldest part of the hotel is the 14th century half-timbered thatched barn, which was once used as a courthouse in medieval times.
The restaurant has received many awards, including 2 AA Rosettes for the outstanding preparation of its food and the good quality of the ingredients it uses.

Ironbridge developed beside, and takes its name from, the Iron Bridge, a 100-foot (30 m) cast iron bridge that was built in 1779.
