ibis budget Lisieux

Lisieux is a commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region in northwestern France. It is the capital of the Pays d'Auge area, which is characterised by valleys and hedged farmland.

As you explore Lisieux, you'll be transported back in time to the 11th century, when the town was founded by the Bishop Saint Mellon. The town is best known for its impressive Gothic-style basilica, the Basilique Sainte-Thérèse, which attracts thousands of visitors each year. This breathtaking structure was built in honor of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, a beloved French Catholic saint and Doctor of the Church.

But there's more to Lisieux than just its famous basilica. The town is also home to a number of other historic landmarks, including the Château de Saint-Germain-de-Livet, a stunning 16th-century castle that has been beautifully restored and is now open to the public. You can also visit the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire de Lisieux, which houses a fascinating collection of art and artifacts that tell the story of the town's rich history.
