Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Nafplio or Nafplion is a coastal city located in the Peloponnese in Greece. It is the capital of the regional unit of Argolis and an important tourist destination. Founded in antiquity, the city became an important seaport in the Middle Ages during the Frankokratia as part of the lordship of Argos and Nauplia, held initially by the de la Roche following the Fourth Crusade before coming under the Republic of Venice and, lastly, the Ottoman Empire. It later served as the first official capital of the modern Greek state, from 1827 to 1834.

As you stroll through the narrow streets and alleys, you'll be transported back in time to the days of the Venetian and Ottoman empires. The town's rich history is reflected in its architecture, with elegant neoclassical buildings and traditional red-roofed houses lining the streets.

One of the most popular attractions in Nafplio is the imposing Palamidi Fortress, perched atop a hill overlooking the town. The fortress was built in the 18th century by the Venetians and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the sea.
