Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Tewkesbury is a market town and civil parish in the north of Gloucestershire, England. The town grew following the construction of Tewkesbury Abbey in the twelfth century and played a significant role in the Wars of the Roses. It stands at the confluence of the River Severn and the River Avon, and became an important trading point. The town gives its name to the Borough of Tewkesbury. The town lies near the border with Worcestershire, marked largely by the Carrant Brook.

As you wander through the quaint streets of Tewkesbury, you'll be transported back in time to the Middle Ages. The town is home to an impressive number of half-timbered buildings, many of which date back to the 16th century. The most famous of these is the Tudor House Museum, which offers a fascinating insight into life in the town during the Tudor era.

But Tewkesbury's history goes back even further than that. The town is perhaps best known for its role in the Wars of the Roses, which took place in the 15th century. The Battle of Tewkesbury was a key turning point in the war, and the town's impressive abbey played a significant role in the conflict.
