Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.
Skukuza, a town in Mpumalanga located 57 km (35 mi) east of Hazyview at the confluence of the N'waswitshaka and Sabie Rivers, is the administrative headquarters of the Kruger National Park.
Located in the heart of Kruger National Park, Skukuza is a wildlife lover’s paradise. Home to the largest concentration of game in the park, visitors can expect to see an array of incredible animals, including the Big Five - lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalos. With over 1.5 million hectares of protected land, Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa, and Skukuza is the perfect place to start your adventure.
But Skukuza isn’t just about the wildlife. The area is steeped in history, with a rich cultural heritage that dates back over 100 years. Named after the local Tsonga word for ‘he who sweeps clean’, Skukuza was once a small campsite for traders and hunters. Today, it is a bustling hub of activity, with a range of accommodation options, including lodges, campsites and chalets.
