Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Caracas, officially Santiago de León de Caracas (CCS), is the capital and largest city of Venezuela, and the center of the Metropolitan Region of Caracas. It is located along the Guaire River in the northern part of Venezuela, within the Caracas Valley of the Venezuelan coastal mountain range. The valley is close to the Caribbean Sea, separated from the shore by a steep 2,200-meter-high (7,200-foot) mountain range, Cerro El Ávila. To the south there are more hills and mountains that form the valley. The Metropolitan Region of Caracas has an estimated population of over 5 million inhabitants.

As soon as you arrive in Caracas, you'll be struck by the city's stunning natural beauty. Nestled between the mountains and the sea, Caracas boasts some of the most awe-inspiring views in South America. Whether you're hiking through the lush rainforest or taking a cable car up to the top of Mount Avila, you'll be constantly surrounded by breathtaking vistas.

But Caracas isn't just a nature lover's paradise. The city also has a rich cultural heritage that you can explore through its museums, art galleries, and historic landmarks. For example, you can visit the National Art Gallery and admire the works of some of Venezuela's most talented artists. Or, you can take a stroll through the historic district of El Hatillo and marvel at the colonial architecture that dates back to the 17th century.
