As you wander through the streets of Kotohira, you'll be transported back in time to the Edo period. The town is famous for its Kompira-san Shrine, which has been a place of worship for centuries. The shrine is dedicated to the god of seafarers and is located on a hilltop, which offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and sea.

In addition to the shrine, Kotohira is also home to a number of traditional Japanese inns, where you can experience authentic hospitality and delicious local cuisine. If you're looking for a unique cultural experience, we recommend trying a hot spring bath at one of the town's many onsen hotels.
