Cordes-sur-Ciel is a commune in the Tarn department, region of Occitania, Southern France. The fortified town was built in 1222 by Raimond VII, the Count of Toulouse, who, though not a Cathar, tolerated what other Catholics considered heresy.

As you wander through the winding cobbled streets, you'll be transported back in time to the 13th century when Cordes-sur-Ciel was founded. The town's hilltop location was chosen strategically for defense purposes, and the impressive fortified walls that surround the town still stand today, offering a glimpse into its storied past.

One of the most striking features of Cordes-sur-Ciel is its unique architecture. The town is known for its Gothic-style buildings, with their tall, narrow windows and steep-pitched roofs. Many of these buildings have been beautifully preserved, and you can't help but feel in awe as you stroll past them.
