Formello is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital. It is located southwest of the Monti Sabatini, within the Regional Park of Veii. The communal territory sits on large deposits of tuff, which is intensively mined in the area.
As you wander through the cobbled streets of Formello, you'll be transported back in time to the days of the Roman Empire. The town is dotted with ancient ruins, including the impressive Villa di Livia, which was once the summer residence of the Emperor Augustus' wife. The villa's stunning frescoes and mosaics are a testament to the wealth and opulence of the Roman aristocracy.
Formello is also home to numerous medieval churches and chapels, such as the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, which dates back to the 11th century. The church boasts a beautiful bell tower and a stunning fresco of the Archangel Michael.
