Zahlé is a city in eastern Lebanon, and the capital and largest city of Beqaa Governorate, Lebanon. With around 150,000 inhabitants, it is the third-largest city in Lebanon after Beirut and Tripoli and the fourth-largest taking the whole urban area.
Zahlé is known as the "City of Wine and Poetry," and it's easy to see why. The city is surrounded by vineyards, and the wine produced here is some of the best in Lebanon. In fact, Zahlé is home to the oldest winery in the country, Château Ksara, which dates back to 1857. Wine tasting tours are a must-do activity here, and you'll have the opportunity to sample some of the finest Lebanese wines while taking in the stunning views of the valley.
The city is also a hub for traditional Lebanese cuisine. Zahlé is famous for its manakish, a type of flatbread that's topped with a variety of ingredients, including cheese, za'atar, and meat. You'll find many bakeries and restaurants that serve up this delicious local specialty, as well as other Lebanese classics like shawarma, tabbouleh, and hummus.
