Avellino is a city and comune (municipality), and capital of the province of Avellino in the region of Campania in southern Italy. It is situated in a plain surrounded by mountains 47 kilometres (29 mi) east of Naples and is an important hub on the road from Salerno to Benevento. It has 51,819 inhabitants.

One of the main attractions in Avellino is the breathtaking scenery. The city is surrounded by rolling hills, lush forests, and picturesque vineyards that produce some of the best wine in Italy. In addition to its natural beauty, Avellino also boasts a rich history that dates back to ancient times. The city was founded by the Samnites, an ancient Italic tribe, and later became an important Roman colony. Today, you can still see traces of this history throughout the city. Be sure to visit the Roman Amphitheater, which dates back to the 1st century AD, and the Cathedral of Avellino, which was built in the 12th century.
