Against the stunning backdrop of Skiddaw and the Uldale Fells, this 18th-century country house is set within 18 acres of beautiful gardens and woodland. The restaurant boasts 2 AA rosettes, and guests can spot resident red squirrels, deer, and rabbits in the extensive grounds.
Double-ended baths and separate showers fill each en suite bathroom in Overwater’s elegant rooms, along with fluffy bathrobes and designer toiletries. You can relax with fresh fruit and flowers, free mineral water, and free Wi-Fi access.
Full English breakfasts are served each morning in the restaurant. Guests can also enjoy morning coffee and award-winning evening cuisine in a formal setting.
Bassenthwaite Lake and Trotters World of Animals are both only a 5-minute drive away and scenic walks amongst the fells can be had in the lush, surrounding Lakeland. Nearby Keswick has a range of independent shops and a theatre by the lake.

Bassenthwaite is a village and civil parish to the east of Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria, historically part of Cumberland, within the Lake District National Park, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 412, increasing to 481 at the 2011 Census. There is a Church of England Church, St John's Bassenthwaite and a tiny Methodist chapel. The village contains many elements of the archetypal English village including a green, primary school and a stream that runs through it.
