Pisa City Lodge

Pisa is a city and comune (municipality) in Tuscany, Central Italy, straddling the Arno just before it empties into the Ligurian Sea. It is the capital city of the Province of Pisa. Although Pisa is known worldwide for the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the city contains more than twenty other historic churches, and several medieval and Renaissance palaces, mostly facing each other on the avenues along the Arno ("Lungarno"). Much of the city's architecture was financed from its history as one of the Italian maritime republics.

As you wander through the narrow streets of Pisa's historic center, you'll encounter a range of architectural styles that reflect the city's long and complex history. From Gothic churches to Renaissance palaces, the buildings here are a testament to the artistic and cultural achievements of the past. We recommend taking a stroll through the Piazza dei Miracoli, where you'll find the famous Leaning Tower, the Baptistery, and the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.

If you're interested in learning more about Pisa's history, you can visit the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, which houses a collection of medieval and Renaissance art and artifacts. For something a little different, head to the Palazzo Blu, a contemporary art museum that hosts regular exhibitions and events.
