Caserta is the capital of the province of Caserta in the Campania region of Italy. An important agricultural, commercial, and industrial comune and city, Caserta is located 36 kilometres north of Naples on the edge of the Campanian plain at the foot of the Campanian Subapennine mountain range. The city is best known for the 18th-century Bourbon Royal Palace of Caserta.

As you explore the town, you'll quickly notice the impressive Royal Palace of Caserta. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was built in the 18th century and boasts over 1,200 rooms, making it one of the largest palaces in the world. The palace's gardens are equally impressive, with fountains, waterfalls, and intricate landscaping that will leave you in awe.

If you're a foodie, then Caserta is the perfect destination for you. The town is famous for its buffalo mozzarella, which is made in nearby farms and served fresh at local restaurants. You can also try other traditional dishes such as pasta e fagioli, a hearty pasta and bean soup, or sartù di riso, a dish made with rice, meat, and cheese that's similar to a timbale.
