Johann Sebastian Bach Barroko garaiko alemaniar konpositore, musikari, orkestra-zuzendari, kapera-maisu, kantari, irakasle eta organo-jotzailea izan zen, historiako musikari familia onenetako baten kidea. Inoiz izan den konpositore handienetakotzat hartzen da askotan, bere lanen edertasunagatik ez ezik kopuruagatik ere bai. Hortaz, inspirazio iturri izan zen hainbat musikarirentzat, hala nola Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, Mahler edota Schönberg.
